Clone Club Minutes: Orphan Black – An Embarrassment of Riches

Orphan Black Season 2 Episode #8: Variable and Full of Perturbation — Don’t etch the Clone Club members in stone just yet.Cosima’s still sick, Delphine’s still in love.  Sarah’s still on the fence about who to trust, Rachel Duncan still loves her dad, who still thinks he’s in the clone-club business. Helena wasn’t even in this episode and no one thinks Dr. Leekie died from a heart attack.

The important part is – there’s a new clone in town and his name is Tony.  A flannel shirt, goatee and mullet wearing transgender man who has his best friend Sammy die in his arms with a message from Beth Childs, only to find out Beth’s dead and he’s only a member in a much larger Clone Club.  Tony flirts with Felix to the point where Felix is almost making out with this mirror image of his sister, and doesn’t seem to get, nor is he told, of the gravity of the situation they’re all in.  This leads one, me, to believe Tony may actually know more than he’s letting on.  Can’t wait for him to meet Helena!

Clone of the Week: Tony

Monitor Watch

Donny is monitor of the week.  It’s a slow episode for Alison and her husband/monitor Donny, but she does come home from rehab to find him drunk in bed.  That said, Donny tells her he had no idea what Dr. Leekie was up to and before she can confide in him that she actually killed former BFF Ainsley, he reveals he killed Dr. Leekie.

Honorable Mention

I’ve got questions, lots and lots of them.  Where was Tony raised and by whom?  How did Beth find him?   How many clones are actually out there?  DO all of the clones have the same genetic makeup.  What did Dr. Duncan or Dr. Leekie and the Dyad leave up to chance since all of the clones have very different personalities.  If, as Duncan says, the clones were barren by design and Sarah’s ability to conceive was a mistake, what OTHER “mistakes” were made.  I guess I can wait for answers….if I have to.
