RuPaul’s Drag Race Recap: Glitter Ball

Everybody loves puppets.

RuPaul’s Drag Race has a Glitter Ball with three runway looks. All the queens are totes trippin’.

After Joslyn’s elimination, the queens enter the Werkroom and give a sad “womp womp” boob jiggle salute. Adore vows to stay out of the bottom two from now on. Bianca, meanwhile, is psyched about Hawaii and her win, and the other girls seem perturbed that Bianca is so friggin’ amazing at everything. Darienne is bitter as hell about “Doogie and fake Val Kilmer” dissing her look. Oh no she betta DON’T.

The next day, Courtney swears up and down that she picked this final 5 on day one. So did America, hun. Although I was kind of hoping Joslyn would stay over Darienne, if I’m being honest. Ru comes in after the jewel-themed SheMail and introduces my new favorite mini-challenge: the puppet bitchfest! Each girl reaches into a glory hole (LOL) and picks a puppet to drag up and talk to in a shady fashion. Adore gets a Miss Crème puppet and does a ridiculously spot-on impression. Bianca picks Adore and reads her to filth for her filthy tights. Darienne gets Courtney and rather accurately pinpoints the casual bitchiness she embodies. Miss Crème gets Bianca and basically does Judge Judy on cocaine, which is highly amusing. “I have no problems! I live in New York! I work all the time!” cracked me up. Courtney makes her Darienne puppet complain about the guest judges and kind of fails. She is also the only one who doesn’t do a semi-accurate voice.

Miss Crème wins the mini-challenge and Ru describes the main challenge. That’s right, coming one week early (like every other challenge this season), it’s the ball challenge! The girls must choose/create three looks for the runway. First category: banjee girl; second category: executive realness (a standard and a personal favorite); finally, “dripping in jewels eleganza,” which must be an original creation. Miss Crème gets to assign a jewel tone to each queen.

The queens get to work and they all are instantly jealous of Bianca’s epic sewing skills. Miss Crème confesses that she gave Adore the diamond jewel tone because it was easiest. Darienne thinks that’s bad strategy, and the other queens call her hateful. She’s in it to win it, y’all.
