We hit TV bingo this week with a new game show, an award show, a new drama, new animation, and Bigfoot. Now someone needs to pitch a show combining those elements. Here’s what’s on TV this week.
Wednesday, January 8
Game Show Network will debut The Mind of a Man with four episodes, starting at 8pm. I’m certain this will be a polemic challenging the gender binary in an effort to dismantle the patriarchy. Or not. Over on NBC, Chicago Fire spin-off Chicago PD will premiere at 10pm.
Thursday, January 9
Congratulations Parks and Recreation for hitting the big 100 in your 100th timeslot, now at 8:30pm. If you are still in a comedy mood with SNL alumni, the faux miniseries The Spoils of Babylon airs its first two installments on IFC at 10pm.
Friday, January 10
Spike hopes to settle the sasquatch mystery once and for all with the show 10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. The first of nine teams to bring definitive proof of the beast will collect the bounty. Oh! And Dean Cain is the host. You guys, I LOVE January TV.
Sunday, January 12
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are back as hosts for the Golden Globe Awards which air live starting at 8pm. The awards aren’t much of an indicator of anything other than what certain celebrities’ alcohol tolerances are, but that’s useful information. If you need a break from the revelry, PBS will air the special Unlocking Sherlock after Downton Abbey as preparation for next week’s premiere of the latest batch of episodes.
Monday, January 13
Sleepy Hollow is back after its lengthy hiatus for one more episode before next week’s season finale. Later, FX’s animation block moves to Mondays with Archer at 10pm followed by the premiere of Chozen at 10:30.
