When Stephen Jameson begins hearing voices and waking up in strange places, he starts to question his sanity. When he decides to listen to one of the voices in his head, it leads him to his first encounter with the Tomorrow People.
Meet Stephen Jameson. He’s the blue(st)-eyed, pharmaceutical-popping shirtlessness in front of you. Oh, he’s in high school. Sigh, way to make me feel like a cradle-robber, C-Dubs. I like his style: hoodie, crisp jacket, nice jeans, I need to get those shoes. Anyway, Stephen returns from school to see his mom passed out on the couch. There aren’t any liquor bottles or discarded syringes, so I’m guessing she works hard for the money and is trying to enjoy her five minutes between job A and job D. Stephen’s voice goes on to explain that he requires some special accommodations when he tries to get some shuteye. Bondage straps? What is this show?
Meanwhile, we see a nurse’s uniform left unattended on a counter. The ID is still attached…oops, not anymore. A guy named John uses the card to get access to the psych files on the 12th floor. The security guard at the main desk sees the breach and is apparently the only guy on duty as he is the only one capable of trying to track down John. John has already retrieved the file he was looking for by the time the guard gets to the door. Luckily, the file room has rooftop access, because confidential medical records need easy access to the elements. John nonchalantly walks outside as the guard follows. Before the guard catches up, John has teleported off the rooftop. The guard is like “whaaaaAAAAA?!”
John reappears at the Broad Street subway station. Also at the station: other teleporters. These guys are dressed in black and seem to be approaching John in a way that doesn’t strike me as chummy. John and the goons start fighting as the train approaches. John subdues his attackers and gets on the train. No one else is on the train except a hobo passed out on one of the bench seats. Another teleporter appears and seems to be the mini-boss of this level. The attacker is doing a much better job of pummeling and uses the metal bars in the train effectively. John is able to teleport out of the attacker’s kung fu grip and behind the attacker to land a couple hits before teleporting out of the train completely. The hobo, awakened by the scuffle, has been watching.
Stephen is awakened by a woman’s voice. The voice has an ethereal quality to it, but it seems Stephen has heard this voice before. Stephen checks his surroundings. He’s not in the bondage straps, and there is a naked woman on his right and a naked man to his left. Stephen does not recall any adult situations, and the other two in the bed seem equally freaked out to see this kid. The man escorts Stephen (who is wrapped in a comforter) home. The neighbor tells Mrs. Jameson the sleepwalking pranks need to stop. After the neighbor leaves, Stephen’s brother Luca comes down from the second floor. No, I don’t think we’ve seen him before. Luca teases his brother about the history of sleep issues, so there’s that exposition.
