Cabin. That looks like it could be in Westchester County much more than many of the other sets in this show. Abbie sets to work on the door lock and Ichabod murmurs happily: “An officer of the law with a criminal past. Imagine the delinquency we could perpetrate if we really put our minds to it.” I don’t know what he has in mind, but man do I want to know. Once inside Ichabod casts a watchful look at Abbie, then casts his flashlight upon a painting depicting Washington and some soldiers, and a photograph that prompts him to call Abbie and Abbie to come over in surprise – it’s Sherrif Clancy’s cabin, and the photo is of Clancy and Jenny all chummy-like.1 The pair grumble that Jenny lied to them, and then Jenny swoops around the corner with gun drawn. Abbie is startled, but still manages to pull her own gun, thus demonstrating that neither sister is particularly inclined to shoot the other. They bicker that the other should put down her gun. “Well,” says Ichabod, putting away his flashlight, “this is awkward.” Commercials.
When we return, Abbie is telling Jenny to trust her and Jenny is all ‘You have no idea what we’re dealing with!’ and they’re both still pointing guns and then they start rehashing the Very Core of their disagreement (Abbie ignores what she knows is true, Jenny is self-destructive, et cetera) and even Ichabod is getting fed up with the lack of forward progress, slamming his hands onto the table and shouting “Enough!” The sisters shut up and look at him. When British-sounding guys in coats with too many buttons yell at me, I tend to pay attention as well. He calls them both out on their individual childish failings and tells them to put their guns down. They do, but it’s worth noting that Jenny goes first.
After some continued embitterment Jenny explains that Corbin had her “acquire rare items” and find out information that, presumably, he couldn’t get via normal policing means. He visited her the night before he died and told her to come to the cabin in the event he died and keep a particular item safe. She proceeds to reveal a hidden compartment in what looks like a log wall and man do I want one of those for my house.2 The object is a sextant, wrapped in an oilcloth that prompts Ichabod to get that far-away look in his eyes.
