The history associated with today is highlighted in two programs: History takes a look back with the doc 102 Minutes That Changed America as Nova looks to the future of the new World Trade Center. Meanwhile, Fox kicks off Fall 2013-14 with a new season of The X Factor.
102 Minutes That Changed America — History, 9pm
This documentary from 2008 uses found footage to reconstruct the events of September 11, 2001 from multiple perspectives: the media, first responders, and regular people responding to the chaos. I highly recommend watching this, but be warned that this is not for the faint of heart.
Nova – PBS, 9pm (Check Local Listings)
Continuing with the 9/11 theme, the 41st season of the science series highlights the construction project occupying southern Manhattan. The top floors of One World Trade Center and the memorial construction in the basement are the main topics on tonight’s episode.
The X Factor – Fox, 8pm
MasterChef – Fox, 9pm
The Fall television season unofficially begins tonight with the third-season premiere of The X Factor. A new panel of judges (Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland, Paulina Rubio) and some major tweaks to the format are in store as the singing competition tries to establish some sort of foothold on the overcrowded reality marketplace. Exiting that marketplace temporarily is summer staple MasterChef, which crowns a winner tonight. However, Junior MasterChef will be added to the Friday night lineup soon. Yay?
